Dance Music has married class and consistency during a memorable twelve months for her owners Neven Botica and Matthew Sandblom.

The daughter of Yarradale Stud’s champion sire War Chant (USA) has won 11 times in 23 starts and she went to another level last year with wins in the Mandurah Cup, Australian Day Cup, LR Northam Cup and LR Starstruck Classic.

The purple-patch continued on Perth Cup day in the G3 La Trice Classic at Ascot to send her earnings past $800,000.  “She has taken us on a good journey and has a 50% strike-rate which is crazy,” trainer Simon Miller said . “I’m very happy for Neven and Matthew. Mares like her don’t come along very often.”

Dance Music led at every call in the La Trice Classic for former Victorian jockey Brad Rawiller.  “At the weights, she was a good thing, but it was just about whether she would get the 1800m,” Miller added.  “As she’s got older, she has transitioned from sprinting and, in hindsight, I should have stepped her up in distance before now.”

The 5yo mare is the first foal of Fast Flowing (Dubawi) and is bred on the same War Chant – Mr Prospector cross as G1 MVRC William Reid Stakes winner Silent Sedition.   Her yearling colt by Deep Field has been catalogued by Willow Dale Stud as Lot 136 for the 2021 Perth Magic Millions.

Dance Music had opened her black-type account in the 2018 Placid Ark Stakes and War Chant added another name to its roll-call when Chantorque was successful in November 21.
