Super Saturday at Ascot started with a super result for Yarradale Stud’s exciting first-season sire War Chant (USA).

Trainer Robbie Griffiths is considering a trip to Western Australia for Girl In Flight after the Yarradale Stud mare finished a close second in the G2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on Saturday.

War Chant (USA) signalled he will be a force in Perth’s early-season juveniles when Chanzig scored a strong trial win at Lark Hill on Monday.

Group 1 stallion Citidancer (Ire) succumbed to the infirmities of old age at Yarradale Stud on Monday night.  He was 29.
