Gift Of The Heart has grown a leg due in no small part to a gear change that helped him complete a hat-trick for trainer Roy Rogers and apprentice Amy Jo Hayes in the TABtouch Hcp (1500m) at Albany on Sunday.

The grey gelding had been off the scene for six months earlier this season and he was thrown in at the deep end first-up when fading to finish last in the inaugural $370,000 Bluff Knoll (1099m) on March 16 in the Great Southern.

Rogers removed a tongue tie and substituted a tongue clip on April 1 and he hasn’t looked back with three front-running victories.  “Gift Of The Heart got the job done again at his home track and huge congratulations to his patient and supportive connections,” he said.

“They have stuck with the horse through some testing times in getting him back to his true form.”

Gift Of The Heart (5g Bradbury's Luck - Passion Cantata by Oratorio) won at Belmont and Ascot last season and the latest bank deposits improved his earnings to $258,000 including Westspeed Bonuses of $62,000.

Bred and sold by Yarradale Stud for $60,000 at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions, he was conceived in the third of six books covered by Bradbury’s Luck (Redoute’s Choice) at Yarradale and is a half-brother to War Chant (USA) winners Blazing Passion, Passion For War and Power And Passion.

Strathmore Rose (War Chant) is another Yarradale-bred graduate who went on a winning run for Rogers until her retirement this time last year.  She won in town at Belmont and also saluted six times at Albany before a cover to first-season sire Rights Of Man (Snitzel) in November.

Rights Of Man is a Victorian winning half-brother to Northern Meteor stallions Deep Field and Shooting To Win and stands with Rogers for a service fee on application (0422 168 066).

Swindle The Dough also struck for Yarradale sire Gingerbread Man at Percy Spencer Racecourse on Sunday when he led at every panel in the TABtouch Maiden (1500m).  He’s a homebred for Rapid Equine owner-breeder Neil Irvine and his dam Miss Swindle (Murtajill) has another two Gingerbread Man colts in the pipeline for Irvine at Balmoral Park in Bedfordale.
