Yarradale Stud homebred Girl In Flight begins her Group 1 autumn campaign in the G3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday.

Girl In Flight hasn't raced since finishing a narrow second to Suavito in the G2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at headquarters last November.  The winner graduated to Group 1 win in the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield last weekend.

"The form around her reads really well," trainer Robbie Griffiths told AAP.  "Suavito beat her a lip last time in and that's good form.  She's going really well. There’s room for improvement but I expect to see a forward run as she's always competitive first-up."

Griffiths said Girl In Flight will head to the G3 Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on March 27 after which a decision will be made on whether to run in the G1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Randwick on April 11.  Adelaide is another alternative.

Girl In Flight (4m Commands – Rossiya by Machiavellian) bagged her first black-type in the G3 Schweppervescence Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville twelve months ago.  She has banked $235,775 since Griffiths bought her for $60,000 at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Yarradale owner Ron Sayers kept a share and was joined by Bob Baumann, Andrew Doyle, Frank Giacco, Janice Thomas and Belinda Emons.

Girl In Flight’s dam Rossiya (Fr) won at Sandown in England for Sheikh Mohammed before arriving in Australia in 2003.  She is a sister to Listed Saint-Cloud winner Queen Catherine and descends from G1 Hollywood Oaks winner Princess Karenda.
