Frost Giant (USA) is siring winners tit-for-tat as Steve Wolfe and Roy Rogers continue their fight at the top of the Great Southern trainers’ premiership this season.

The former Yarradale Stud shuttler had Cold As Cold double up for Wolfe on January 11 while Classic Jack chimed in a second time for Rogers on January 20.

Cold As Cold unleashed a strong burst to record an impressive victory in the Motel Le Grande Hcp (1230m) at Albany.  “We've always had a bit of time for this horse,” Wolfe said.  “He's really starting to put it all together this campaign with smart, back-to-back wins.”

Frost Giant sired him from USA stakes winner Diamonds N Bling (Chimes Band) who cost Yarradale $20,000 at the 2012 Inglis Easter Bloodstock Sale.  She proved a difficult breeder – her only live foal in six years was Cold As Cold - before her own death last month.

Classic Jack cost Rogers $16,000 at the 2017 Perth Magic Millions and his dam Classic Smile (Bletchley Park) has been a different proposition altogether at Gidgegannup.  Frost Giant is one of four different stallions to sire a winner from the mare who was bred and raced by Yarradale owner Ron Sayers.

The highlight has been $1 million earner Dainty Tess and her younger brother by War Chant (Lot 24) from Yarradale will be one of the highlights at the Perth Magic Millions on Monday, February 18.

Frost Giant (Giant’s Causeway) covered two books in WA before returning to stand permanently in New York.
