Yarradale Stud expat Diamond Rhyme is getting into a winning rhythm for trainer Frankie Lor after taking time to acclimatize in Hong Kong.

It took him 20 starts to find his winning mojo at Sha Tin in November but he didn’t waste any more valuable time grabbing a second in the Poplar Hcp (1400m) on New Year’s Day.

Diamond Rhyme (6g Sebring – Keeper Quiet by Scandal Keeper) is well and truly underway now after stints with Francis Lui and Chris So.  He joined up with Lor’s strong team in June last year and his form has been on the rise this season.

Stable rider Vincent Ho positioned him three-deep before realising one was stopping quickly in front.  He had to alter course for several strides to avoid trouble but, once into the clear, he responded well to wear down main rival in Wins All (Testa Rossa).

Diamond Rhyme was passed-in for $45,000 when offered by Yarradale at the 2016 Perth Magic Millions.  Initially registered as Keeper Keen, he won the 2016 Crystal Slipper Stakes at Ascot before being purchased by Hong Kong owner Lau So Wah.

His dam Keeper Quiet also won an Ascot nursery and was runner-up to Luke’s Luck in the 2012 G2 Karrakatta Plate and G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes.  She has a 2yo filly by Gingerbread Man and her latest cover was to Playing God in September.

Yarradale Stud has a draft of 25 yearlings being prepared for the 2021 Perth Magic Millions.  The Gidgegannup nursery goes into the Magic Millions on the back of an outstanding summer carnival highlighted by Dance Music (G3 La Trice Classic & LR Starstruck Classic), Chantorque (LR Placid Ark Stakes), Valour Road (G3 Prince Of Wales Stakes) and Miss Frost (LR Jungle Mist Classic).
