Yarradale Stud sires Gingerbread Man and War Chant (USA) are proving a potent combination with a nick that has generated a 75% winning strike-rate.

Loopy's Baby (3f Gingerbread Man - Loopy's Ladies by War Chant) won her maiden in the rain at the WA Day public holiday meeting in the Avon Valley.  She’s owned by Yarradale Stud’s Lyn Sayers in partnership with her daughters and they also raced the dam to a late-season 2yo victory at Belmont.

The Fred Kersley-trained filly led home a Yarradale quinella from Saint Eadie (Vital Equine).  The runner-up is a half-sister to Yarradale’s ill-fated colt War Saint (War Chant) who won the G2 WA Guineas in 2019.

Berbere (3g Gingerbread Man - Habenera by War Chant) saluted two days after Loopy's Baby at Belmont.  He had won a Pinjarra maiden first-up for Ian O’Connor and a syndicate that parted with $33,000 at the 2021 Perth Magic Millions.

Bred and sold by Yarradale, Berbere handled the Heavy 8 conditions with his big white blaze prominent in a busy finish to the TABtouch Hcp (1000m).  “It worked out perfectly today,” co-trainer Grant Williams said.  “It helps having Paul Harvey aboard especially as his wife Janelle has a share.

“He’s got a motor and is a wonderful horse with a beautiful nature.  There’s lots of upside if we keep him trimmed down on the sand track at home.”
