Trainers Grant and Alana Williams are looking forward to this year’s KBRC Goldfields Round with a team headed by Red Fifty Three (Gingerbread Man) who races for syndicate managed by Elio Galante.

Grant Williams mentioned the LR Hannans Hcp (1400m) on Wednesday, October 4 as a likely target for Red Fifty Three.  “We will be governed by the calendar although the owners would be happy to have a crack in Kalgoorlie.  He’s been running well this prep and the 1400m won’t be a drama.

“It depends on rating points because we don’t like killing them if we don’t have to.”

Red Fifty Three was bred by Yarradale Stud’s assistant-manager Susan Hanratty and sold for $42,500 at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions.  His dam Lady Valorem (Ad Valorem) has a yearling filly by Gingerbread Man.

The win coincided with Susan’s husband Davvy Hanratty being named Yarradale Stud’s new stud manager.  He has been part of the team at Gidgegannup since 2011 and will take the place of Bernadette Hamill who will remain at the stud in a mentoring and advisory role.

Yarradale landed another feature winner on Saturday when Powerful (Photo / Western Racepix) was successful in the $60,000 Carnarvon Cup (2000m).  The Nicconi stayer is part-owned and trained by Darryn Pateman and was coming off a second to fellow Nicconi gelding Ellafella in the $100,000 Broome Cup last month.

Yarradale bred Powerful in partnership with Neville Parnham and Paul Cooke from its 2008 Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) winner Brava Fortune (Falbrav).

Elio Galante also continued his winning run with Team Williams on Saturday with Pompey (Xtravagant) in the Free Entry To Belmont Park Hcp (1600m).  His dam Gottabeyou (Snitzel) was a $30,000 buy for Premium Bloodstock's Grant Burns, as agent for Galante, at the 2015 Gold Coast Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
